Insomnia

Insomnia, insomnia, why do you plague me, insomnia?
This sleep deprivation will only lead to my early dementia.
I have squared off against myself time and again on life’s battlefield,
When you joined the fight, I began roaming aimlessly thru sleep’s minefield.
Indeed, you are the most magnificent foe that I have had to face.
If you would let me get some sleep, it would be a simple act of grace.
So there you have it, my feeble petition; but what can I expect?
Will you leave me alone to get some rest, or mock me in disrespect?
Hopefully, my doctor can find a cure for this needless affliction,
Perhaps he can medicate me and cause your ultimate extinction.
Frivolous and idle plans are useless – you thrive on my inaction.
In the end, I will figure this out, and sleep will be the reaction!
