In Jesus Name

The worship song, I speak Jesus, contains some powerful lyrics.  Here is a sampling:

I just wanna speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
‘Cause I know there is peace within Your presence
I speak Jesus

Shout Jesus from the mountains
Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name
Jesus (Jesus)

‘Cause Your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life

Whenever you speak the name of Jesus over someone, you are calling on a power that is stronger than any circumstance you may be facing.

Oh, Lord God! You Yourself made the heavens and earth by Your great power and with Your outstretched arm.  Nothing is too difficult for You! (Jer. 32:17 HCSB)

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26 ESV)

Jesus is God.  He created all things, so all things are subject to Him.  God spoke all things into existence (Gen. 1).  The power of His spoken word caused everything to be formed:  sun, moon, stars, light, animals, trees, water, etc.  His spoken word is powerful.

However, He created man by forming our bodies from the dust (Gen. 2:7).  Such a simple statement, yet so complicated.  Our bodies are an intricate design.  God took dust and made the organs of the body.  He made the bones that would support the body.  He made flesh to cover the organs and bones.  He designed each system in our body, circulatory, musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, etc.  Then He breathed life into man.  The implication of this is that He thought so much about man, that He didn’t just speak us into existence.  No, He wanted to be “hands on”.

If we are that important to God, then He listens when we speak the name of Jesus.

Now, I am not going to say that every time you invoke Christ’s name that you see the results that you are expecting.  I have written extensively on the topic of healing.  I won’t rewrite those blogs, but you can review them here.

I said that Jesus can do all things because He is God.  He took on a form of humanity and died on the cross to save you. (Phil. 2:5-8).  When the Bible talks about salvation, the Greek word used means deliverance.  Most people associate this with being delivered from our sins.  However, you can be delivered from many things, sin, sickness, oppression, etc.

So, when we are speaking the name of Jesus over someone, we are asking Jesus to deliver them.  His authority to do this stems from the fact that He is God, and that He was wounded and died for your deliverance.  The blood of Jesus is powerful enough for all circumstances.  Gospel musician Andre Crouch wrote:

The blood that Jesus shed for me,
way back on Calvary;
the blood that gives me strength
from day to day,
it will never lose its power.

The blood of Jesus is what the Christian faith is based on.  He shed it for you.  You need to tap into the power of the blood in your daily walk.  You need to invoke the power of the blood by speaking the name of Jesus over the situations you, or the people you know are facing.
